There was a late shocker in the sixth minute of injury time as the Bucks lose narrowly at Boston.
John Reed was dealt a blow on Saturday morning with leading scorer Gavin Knight in hospital with an infection that look certain to keep him out for a couple of weeks. With Geoff McGaw now departed for Kidsgrove, the Bucks went into the match with just for substitutes with a first start for Cayne Hanley and a welcome return for Christian Millar following injury.
The Bucks got off to the better start with chances for both Towey and Hanley before former Buck, Gareth Davies, saw red for the hosts for an apparent blow on Michael Towey. As is often the case, the Pilgrims upped their game when reduced to 10 men with Church and Newsham going close before taking the lead through Pearson from a poorly defended corner. It was looking like three points for Boston with little problem before Joe Wilcox levelled for the Bucks with his second goal for the club on 85 minutes and then there was late drama with Boston retaking the lead in the sixth minute of injury time through Parker following another defensive lapse on a set piece.
John Reed will now have to rally the team for an important run of home fixtures, the first matches at the Silverlands in nearly two months, starting with Tuesday's clash with Frickley.
