GREAT WIN FOR BUCKS

High-flying Guiseley were brought down to earth by rampant Bucks with a debut goal for the impressive Lee Morris.

There seemed little chance of this game going ahead this morning with a thick covering of snow on the pitch but hard work by a number of volunteers saw the match on and all the hard work was rewarded by a convincing victory for Buxton.

Manager John Reed opted for a forward three for the match with Lee Morris on debut following his transfer from Frickley in midweek. This enabled Scott Maxfield to revert back into midfield and it was the influential Buxton coach that pulled the strings all afternoon which triggered probably the Bucks best display of the season. It was obvious in the early exchanges that Buxton were up for the match and were rewarded on 13 minutes when Morris netted on his debut following a free-kick from Tommy Agus that wasn’t cleared. The visitors clawed their way back into the match and hit the bar but Mark Reed had a great chance to double the Bucks lead when played through but Worsnop in the Guiseley goal did enough to keep it out.

Guiseley started the second half with more belief and were level on 53 minutes when Walshaw netted from the spot after a foul in the area. The Bucks retook the lead, also from the spot, when Mark Reed (in his 250th appearance for the club and pictured) scored following a foul on Michael Towey. Despite a late cameo from substitute Malvin Kamara for the visitors, Buxton’s defence held firm and the points were wrapped up in injury time with Kieran Lugsden finishing confidently after being played in by Maxfield.
