WIN AT KENDAL

Second half goals from Kieran Lugsdem and Lee Morris secured a first win for the Bucks at Kendal in many years.

Kendal hadn't lost at home in the league for 53 weeks but second half goals from Kieran Lugsden and Lee Morris kept alive Buxton's hopes of reaching the play-offs. John Reed had to do without Neil Stevens for the match following a 'little'operation on Thursday (he should be back in contention for the Marine match on Tuesday) as well as Gavin Knight, who faces a further month on the sidelines following a seriuos foot infection. There was a further blow in the warm up when Cayne Hanley was declared unfit so there were starts for Christian Millar and Kieran Lugsden.
The first half was goal-less but both Scott Maxfield and Kieran Lugsden went close for the Bucks and it was Lugsden who opened the scoring on 52 minutes when he directed home a header from a set play. Kendal tried hard to get back into the game but the Buxton defence, with both Anderson and Agus outstanding, held firm and the points were assured on 81 minutes when Lee Morris bagged his second in two matches when he latched onto a cross from Mark Reed.
The Bucks now entertain Marine on Tuesday night (7-45) before the clash with FC United next Saturday when Buxton's largest crowd of the season will be in attendance. Buxton supporters are reminded that the game is all ticket with tickets on sale at the Marine game on Tuesday or at the Vault public House on the Market Place at any time.

Saturday's Results...

There was no change at the Premier Division summit with all three top sides, BRADFORD PARK AVE, RETFORD UNITED and BOSTON UNITED winning without conceding a goal. Boston’s win was the most spectacular with seven against next to bottom OSSETT TOWN whilst Retford hit four at BURSCOUGH. Leaders Bradford, however, will have been content with just two at home to STOCKSBRIDGE which maintained their five point cushion. Fourth place NORTH FERRIBY UNITED had a difficult looking trip to the in-form FC UNITED of MANCHESTER and so it proved as they let a two goal lead slip to share six goals. GUISELEY closed to within a point of Ferriby after beating bottom club DURHAM CITY 2-0 whilst sixth placed KENDAL TOWN lost ground and their unbeaten home record stretching back more than a year to BUXTON. At the opposite end WORKSOP TOWN put a safety net between themselves and the relegation places with a point at MARINE and given their poor away record fourth bottom FRICKLEY ATHLETIC will have been pleased with a share of the spoils at HUCKNALL TOWN. Elsewhere MATLOCK TOWN continued their fine recent form with a 3-1 win over WHITBY TOWN whilst ASHTON UNITED finally got a home win after losing five on the bounce when beating NANTWICH TOWN.
