DRAW WITH MARINE

Mark Reed grabs his 150th goal for the Bucks but there is disappointment that the Marine jinx isn’t broken at the Silverlands.

Injuries to Cayne Hanley, Neil Stevens and Gavin Knight meant a rare substitute appearance for Mark Balfe last night, as the Bucks looked to end a winless run of 19 matches at the Silverlands against Marine. It was looking good as early as the 6th minute when Mark Reed capitalised on good persistence from Lee Morris to bag his 150th goal for the club. Buxton enjoyed the best of the opening half but were undone on 18 minutes when a corner was defended poorly and the ball ended up in the back of the net from a ruck of players, Cumiskey being credited.

Marine came more into the game in the second period but Grant Black tested Dittmer in the Marine goal with two lobbed shots and retook the lead when Lee Morris netted at the second attempt to make it 3 strikes in 3 games since his move from Frickley. Buxton’s passing was erratic all night and coupled with some uncharacteristic defending, especially after the superb shut-out at Kendal at the weekend, it was no real surprise when Marine levelled through Joe Fowler on 77 minutes, this following a couple of chance for Morris to wrap up the points.

A point was about the right result but Buxton will have to try again next year to beat Marine at the Silverlands, a run of results that stretches back to 1982!
