TUESDAY NEWS

Bucks looking to capitalise on fine weekend win with visit to local rivals Matlock tonight.

If Saturday's match was one of the first to be noticed on the fixture list by Buxton's management, then so was tonight's encounter at Causeway Lane. This rearranged match promises to be a full-blooded local 'derby' with both teams on good form of late, trying to sneak into the end of season play-offs. Both teams form has run parallel through the season with improvements since just before the bad weather although there was contrasting results last weekend with Matlock coming undone to a late controversial penalty at Frickley while the Bucks ran out convincing winners over FC United of Manchester. John Reed's team go into the fixture on a run of 28 points taken from the last 13 matches and seem full of goals since the arrival of Lee Morris from Frickley, and that is with leading scorer Gavin Knight still to return. Tonight though will be a tough test against the Gladiators who have too climbed the league of late after a shaky start. Former Buxton favourite Jordan Hall is on loan at Causeway Lane from Alfreton and is expected to be in the team to face Buxton tonight in front of what will be a large following from the Silverlands, especially after Saturday's impressive result.
Buxton officials would like to thank all the supporters and helpers of the club that went beyond the call of duty in the two matches against Guiseley and FC United. With snow-ridding duties against Guiseley and then the work that was created with the visit of 'the Rebels' it was all hands to the pumps and both days proved to be a great success on the pitch and off it. Great praise also for the Buxton stewards on Saturday with very positive feedback coming from FC United supporters for the help given on the day. John Yates and his team have benefited from the recent NVQ course held at the ground which is resulting in the Silverlands being a safer and friendlier place to visit.

Full commentary from Matlock tonight can be found on High Peak Radio, for those not travelling but Buxton supporters are urged to make the short trip to cheer on the lads.
