BUXTON FC'S first UniBond Premier League game in three weeks saw them share the spoils with a team 11 places higher than them in the league on Monday night.
As with Saturday's game, Buxton created the openings but just couldn't finish despite opportunities in the first period.
A free kick fell to Mark Reed who tried to tap in but couldn't connect on seven minutes, before Steve Ridley shot high and wide from outside the box five minutes later. Gregg Anderson's ambitious scissor kick proved fruitless on 15 minutes before Ridley was unable to latch onto a great through ball from Tommy Agus.
A succession of dangerous balls into the box followed but Burscough's defence held firm into half time.
The visitors were ahead within two minutes of the restart though, Darren Byers shooting past Scott Hartley to open the scoring on 47 minutes.
Buxton tried to hit back, but their counter attack came to nothing as Kieran Lugsden stumbled during a run upfield.
With 56 minutes gone, Gav Knight found himself shooting miles out from close range, before a great ball from Wilcox found Knight, only for referee Anthony Tankard to blow for an offside.
The visitors had a good opportunity to extend their lead on 61 minutes but their pacy shot was narrowly off target.
Buxton's equaliser came in spectacular fashion in the 69th minute. Gav Knight's fantastic strike from a tight angle gave keeper Kyle Clancy no chance as it flew past him into the net.
This, as well as the arrival of Dorryl Proffitt for Kieran Lugsden, seemed to really wake Buxton up and they were ahead within six minutes.
Good work saw a Tommy Agus cross reach Mark Reed who tapped in from close range to make it 2-1 to the home side with 75 minutes played.
But the advantage lasted less than ten minutes as the completely unmarked Matt Parry coolly fired past Hartley on 84 minutes to level things.
As full time approached, Buxton had chances to snatch the points when a ball from Knight found Reed, whose shot was deflected off a Burscough player.
Then with 93 minutes played, Proffitt's brilliant shot just agonisingly skimmed the crossbar, which seemed to totally sum up Buxton's night
