BUXTON moved into the top half of the UniBond Premier League table on Saturday after their fourth consecutive victory.
Goals from Mark Reed and Gav Knight sealed another three points and a move up to tenth position for Buxton, who also notched up their fourth consecutive clean sheet.
Without a league game for two weeks before Saturday's match, Buxton initially looked a little shaky and it wasn't until after the opening 20 minutes of the game that they settled down.
From then on, the home side played the best football as they sought revenge on the Nottinghamshire side for the 3-1 defeat earlier in the season.
Two free kicks in as many minutes gave the visitors a chance to try taking the lead inside the first ten minutes of the game, but Buxton's goalkeeper Scott Hartley saved easily.
At the other end Mark Reed fired high from a tight angle before Neil Stevens was denied by strong Hucknall defending on 17 minutes.
Stevens was again denied a minute later when visiting keeper Danny Haystead parried his shot.
A host of chances for Buxton followed but they couldn't make any of them count until the 38th minute when Mark Reed turned and fired past Haystead after some excellent build up play between Reed and Knight.
Heavy rain after the break meant the game didn't flow as well as in the first period and real chances were sparse for both sides.
Buxton were still looking the more dangerous side though, and on 70 minutes they added to their lead.
Haystead could only watch in dismay as Knight made it 2-0 with a superb lobbed long range effort, his third such goal in recent matches.
Hucknall had no reply and the points deservedly headed Buxton's way.
