Battling Bucks Bow Out

The brave, battling 'Bucks' bowed out of the NLN promotion play-off competition at the semi-final stage in the north-east on Saturday, but they did their supporters proud and most certainly did not deserve to lose. Rarely can a Buxton team have given as much but all 4 major refereeing decisions went in 'the Mariners' favour and in open play the visitors lacked any luck at all.

The tie had an intriguing aspect as NLN runners-up took on in-form Buxton, unchanged for a 7th consecutive time. The teams had drawn twice earlier in the season, and each opted for a 4-2-3-1 formation.
