Visitors Marine beat them 2-1 on Monday September 26. rubbing salt into the wounds suffered in a one-goal reversal at Peterborough Sports on Saturday. Marine are something of a bogey team for the Bucks when meeting at the Tarmac Silverlands.
The Bucks began well, creating chances, but in the 10th minute Mariners striker Bradley Holmes showed his EFL experience with the first of a brace of goals. He added to his tally in the 44th minute.
As with the first half, the Bucks started strongly after the break, piling pressure on their visitors. The reward came from substitute Djavan Pedro in the 49th minute, with a thunderbolt of a low shot past the goalkeeper. "We conceded two sloppy goals and didn't get going until the second half. Those two goals for Marine before the break meant an uphill second half for us, but we looked completely different after the break, particularly early on, often on the front foot.
"The problem is that we're failing the be effective in the final third for a full 90 minutes. After Monday's result, the lads were gutted and everyone is eager to put things right for Saturday. We'll be working at it all week."
The Bucks go to Southport on Saturday, kick-off 3pm. So far, Southport have won one and lost one at home.
