12/03/2019 Buxton Reserves 3 Styal FC 2
Buxton Reserves earned a hard fought victory over Styal on a blustery Tuesday night at Silverlands. The visitor's started the better and played some slick football but their finishing let them down as a number of chances went begging. The Bucks grew into the game and broke away to score mid way through the first half as 17 year old Ethan Carter's shot went in off the far post. The home side had another couple of chances but it was the visitor's that finished the half the stronger and deservedly equalised just before the break with a fine finish from the right hand side.
Buxton introduced Portuguese midfielder Joshua Silva in the second half and his composed passing saw Buxton take control of the game. It was another sub, Cavell Donaldson who put the hosts back in front with clever footwork and cool finish following good work from Keane Johnson.
Styal equalised once again when a free kick from the half way line caught the wind and left keeper Armstrong in no man's land. This encouraged the visitor's who continued to attack but the centre half partnership of Jackson and Allen supported by Holdgate held strong.
Just as the game seemed to be heading for a draw, Sam Kilner, returning from the 1st team squad, cut in from the right and his shot was deflected past the visiting keeper to give the young Bucks all three points.
