Up next The Bucks are on the road as they travel to Whitby Town at the Towbar Express Stadium on Saturday 19th March 2022 for a 3PM kick off.
The Bucks
The Bucks go into this game top of the table with a 4 point advantage over 2nd place South Shields. Last week it was a first half masterclass from Diego De Girolamo, who’s hat-trick meant we came out 3-0 winners against Radcliffe Borough.
Diego now sits 4th in the top goalscorers chart with 16 goals so far this season.
Manager Steve Cunningham spoke about how much of a important fixture this was for the team saying
“It’s a massive fixture for us, when we sat down and discussed what the plans were going to be, it was to treat each game individually, and the next one will always be the biggest game of the season. Obviously this is a really tough one away against Whitby”
The Bucks should have a good away following, with fans making the journey up for the weekend, along with a supporters coach. Cunningham spoke about the importance of this.
“They really are galvanising the squad and all friends, family and children are coming. It’s a fantastic atmosphere at the Silverlands and we wish everybody travelling to Whitby a safe trip.”
Opposition
Whitby Town currently sit 6th in the league on 55 points just outside the playoffs spots.
The Blues picked up a 2-0 win in their most recent match at home to 10 men Witton Albion. Second half goals from Jacob Hazel and Josh MacDonald secured the three points.
The Bucks are facing another player manager this week, with former York City player Lee Bullock taking charge as a joint manager with Nathan Haslam. Haslam was head coach at Marske United in 2013-14 and lead them to a league and cup double.
One to watch
Jacob Hazel is the top scorer in the NPL this season with 19 goals. The former Buxton loan player has played for 8 clubs in the NPL in his career. The Whitby forward has also represented St Kitts and Nevis on national duty making 3 appearances for the North American side. The Seasiders striker signed a new contract with them in December keeping him there until May 2023.
Last time out
Diego scored a hattrick and Ward scored as The Bucks won 4-1 at The Tarmac Silverlands Stadium in October.
New Faces
Prior to the fixture, The Bucks announced new signings James Hardy and Johnny Saltmer. Forward Hardy joins on loan from Chester FC until the end of the season. Goalkeeper Saltmer joins as back up for Theo, as The Bucks bolster their squad for the campaign run in.
