Match Preview (Witton Away)

By Elliot Steadman

Up next The Bucks have another away trip, as they travel to Wincham Park this Saturday to face Witton Albion.

The Bucks

The Bucks go into this game top of the table with a 2 point cushion after last weeks draw against Whitby Town. Whitby put a first half penalty over the bar, and Bucks goalkeeper Theo Richardson pulled off 2 quick saves to keep the score level.

We now have 6 big games left of the season in the fight for promotion!

Outside of the football everyone at Buxton would like to congratulate defender Sean Newton on the birth of his first child.

Opposition

Witton Albion currently sit in the relegation spots, 21st in the league and 9 points adrift of Stalybridge Celtic in 20th.

Witton are winless in 5, their last win coming in February as they beat Grantham 3-2.

Former player at Witton Carl Macauley, won the Cheshire senior cup whilst playing for the club in 1994-96 and returned to the club in 2015 as manager.

In their last game on Tuesday night, they lost narrowly 1-0 to Stafford Rangers.

One to watch

Callum Saunders son of Dean Saunders has scored 15 goals in the league this season since he signed for the Albion in September.

Last time out

We don’t have to go back far for the last time we face Witton, as at the beginning of this month The Bucks came out 3-1 winners at the Tarmac Silverlands stadium. A Man of the match performance from Clarke with a goal and assist against 10 men Witton meant that we picked up the 3 points.
