In front of their biggest pre-Christmas Saturday crowd in many years, Buxton suffered an unnecessary defeat to the Shropshire 'Bucks' whose attacking midfielder, Adam George, scored a goal in each half. 'Unnecessary' indeed as the Derbyshire 'Bucks' made enough openings in the last hour of the match at least to have earned a draw, but the attacking players didn't make the most of them.
The hosts significantly lacked 3 regular starters in the injured duo of Ryan McLean and leading marksman. Tai Sodje, as well as defender Kieran Burton who was completing his 3-match ban. Incidentally, his replacement, loanee Josh Smith (Pictured), suffered a cut head for the 2nd time in 3 Buxton appearances and again finished the afternoon with his head swathed in a bandage. The pacy Johnny Johnston stood in for Sodje but his major asset wasn't utilised by his team-mates. The other change saw Kez Martin preferred in midfield to Cian Coleman, thus making just his 3rd start since early November and the Bermudan international, busy in both attack and defence, was 1 of the more impressive home players when few stood out....Full Match Report HERE
The Bucks are next in action on Boxing Day with a visit to local rivals Macclesfield Town. There is a further reminder for Bucks supporters to purchase tickets in advance and we have now been notified that tickets will go OFF sale at 4pm on Christmas EVE and they will not be available on the day of the match.
