Caretaker team managers Josh Granite and Sean Newton made it two wins from two, as Buxton beat upper-table visitors Peterborough Sports (Saturday December 10th), days after knocking Matlock Town out of the Derbyshire Senior Cup.

It was a second thoroughly deserved win under the duo, achieved in wintry conditions and featuring a penalty from Diego de Girolamo (15 minutes), a first Bucks' goal by Jack McKay (66) and a close-range clincher from Sam Osborne (88). Peterborough played some enterprising and entertaining football but failed to take chances, while the Bucks were decisive in front of goal and could have scored more. Defensively, the clean sheet was the first in seven games. Full Match Report HERE

Afterwards, Josh said: "We're pleased with the reaction from the lads. It feels like we're all going in the same direction and that's forwards. They showed desire and the work rate was outstanding. It's good news for Craig Elliott when he arrives."

Sean added: "We asked them to get the ball down and play on the front foot. They did that, with non-stop support from the Silverlands fans, in spite of the snow and wind. Josh and me have enjoyed every minute, but the team's got two tough away games coming up and we'll be on hand to give Craig Elliott an update on the team."

Buxton go to mid-table Leamington on Tuesday evening, then King's Lynn Town on Saturday. King's Lynn are fifth in the league, with games in hand. Next at home will be Chorley on Tuesday December 20th, kick-off 7.45pm.
