Buxton couldn't turn territorial domination into goals at Peterborough Sports on Saturday August 24th and the home side edged the game by 1-0. It was the first reversal of the season for the Bucks, who had won their opening three league fixtures, but goalmouth chances this time were limited.
Jack Stobbs and Liam Ravenhill made their full debuts and it was a lively start by the Bucks. Sports' centre-back Fryatt knocked away a seemingly goal-bound Josh Popoola shot in the opening minutes.
He made another splendid block from Josh late on, straight after a top-class save by home goalkeeper Peter Crook had kept out substitute Djavan Pedro. There was little else. Meanwhile, the goal was an 18th minute header by Fryatt, rising high to meet a swerving corner kick. Match Report HERE
Buxton's team manager John McGrath (Pictured) was disappointed. He said: "I wasn't happy overall, yet we began as we normally do, attacking fluently. But the Peterborough defence proved very strong and limited our chances. We weren't good enough for much of the game. Our standards dropped away and it was a massive learning curve.
"We want to get back to our high intensity style of play at home on Monday. I'm looking for an instant response and that's the mood in our camp. Together, we'll put things right."
Buxton entertain Marine at the Tarmac Silverlands on Bank Holiday Monday, kick-off 3pm. Newly promoted, Marine have found it tough going so far and are without a point. They've improved with every game, however, and are likely to provide a stern test.
