Whitby Match News and Weekend Round-Up

Action from Saturday with credit to Darren Murphy for the photo

The Bucks had eight players on debut on Saturday against Radcliffe (the first league encounter for 47 years!) and it proved to be an outstanding match with Buxton running out 4-2 winners against a very strong opposition. There were first goals for the club for James Walshaw (although it may be credited to Tommy Elliott on review) and Chris Dawson with Diego netting from the spot and a headed goal for Connor O’Grady….Full Match Report HERE

This Tuesday night we start our FA Cup campaign with a home match against Derbyshire rivals Belper Town. (7-45). Belper are managed by former Buxton right-back Grant Black and his coach Steve Ridley, another player brought to the Silverlands by John Reed, and Buxton will be wanting to avenge the defeat to Belper in last season’s Derbyshire Senior Cup. The last time the two teams met in the FA Cup was back in 2003 when a Tommy Agus goal was enough to see the Bucks through and Belper had current Buxton assistant manager Mark Ward in their line-up that afternoon.

Next Saturday we were due to travel to Whitby Town but due to the ongoing Covid situation in North Yorkshire this match will now be played at the Tarmac Silverlands Stadium with a 3pm kick-off. Both this and the Belper matches will be all pay at the gate.

The Bucks Academy side are in FA Youth Cup action on Thursday night, 7-45, with the visit of City Of Liverpool. This promises to be a terrific match and supporters are very welcome to attend with a £2 admission fee.
