Young Bucks Edge Through In County Cup
Buxton’s first hurdle in this season’s Derbyshire FA Senior Challenge Cup came away at Belper United FC, currently ground-sharing with Mickleover FC. The two teams last met in March 2023, in the same competition, with the Bucks edging that one 3-2 at the Tarmac Silverlands Stadium.
The Bucks took the opportunity to hand starts to several young players who have worked hard out on loan this season, as well as give minutes to those who haven’t seen much action recently. Academy graduate, Logan Melville, was given the nod in goal, whilst Jake Lewis, Harry Balfe, Dylan Mantle, and Luke Evans all started for the young Bucks side.
The game started a rather cagey affair, with no side really creating a clear chance inside the opening 20-minutes. The first opportunity fell to the hosts, as Suleiman Nassor, unmarked at the back post, managed to put the ball high and wide from close range. A chance to redeem himself came just two minutes later, when he made no mistake in heading home to break the deadlock....Full Report HERE
