As a result of the UK Government’s new Covid-19 restrictions, other than our education Academy programme, all other activities at the Tarmac Silverlands Stadium will be suspended from close of business on Wednesday 4th November until at least Wednesday 2nd December. This includes the First Team, Development Squad and all fixtures and training for indoor and outdoor youth and adult grassroots football.

covid-19- buxton fc academy

  • Buxton FC Academy operates in full compliance with guidance both from the Department for Education (DfE) and the FA. All decisions taken are informed by both these governing bodies and we will continue to review everything we are doing as the situation evolves over the next few weeks.

  • Although grassroots football is currently suspended, the DfE has confirmed that any sport whose national governing body, in our case the FA, has developed guidance (under the principles for team sport) that has been approved by the government is permitted to continue. Individual colleges/schools have also been given the flexibility to decide how physical education, sport and activity are to be provided, providing they follow the measures identified in the system of prevention controls. As such, and in line with the advice from both bodies that outdoor sport should be prioritised wherever possible, we have decided to continue to allow the players to train.

  • We have completely separated our two year groups, meaning that they now learn, train, eat and socialise separately, with designated areas for both cohorts.

  • Unfortunately the gym is currently not available for use.

  • All previous Covid-safety measures with regards to training practice, classroom layouts, cleaning and disinfecting etc. remain in place as before lockdown. This includes:

    • Any players or staff who are displaying symptoms of Covid-19 should inform the Coach, report through the official College channels and must not attend

    • Year group cohorts to be separated out (as above), with no overlap of activities that would require use of other areas

    • Classroom layouts to remain as agreed, with social distancing measures in place and regular clean downs of desks and chairs

    • Increased cleaning of site (by cleaning staff) including toilets, changing areas and ‘touch points’ (door handles, light switches etc.)

    • Increased signage around the ground reminding of social distancing, use of anti-bac gel, ‘catch it, bin it, kill it’ good practice etc.

    • All players who use College/public transport to comply with Government/FA guidance on safe travel

    • Water bottles should be used on a one-player basis i.e. not shared with anyone else

    • Players should sanitise hands before and after training, as well as with scheduled breaks throughout a training session

    • Ball handling should be kept to a minimum with most contact via a boot and the ball disinfected in breaks of play; sanitised balls will be positioned around the perimeter for use once the active ball goes out of play

    • Equipment should not be shared, and goalkeepers should ensure they disinfect their gloves regularly in breaks in training and thoroughly afterwards. Where possible, coaches should only handle equipment in training

PLEASE NOTE: the above controls are upheld alongside all other measures identified in both the Club and College risk assessments regarding Covid-19 safety.
