Bucks Up To 7th With Chester Victory
Updated: Sep 14
'The Bucks' on Saturday served up an ultimately convincing victory over 7th-placed Chester, who in 4 previous NLN visits had achieved 3 wins and a draw. The hosts, unchanged from the 5-0 midweek mauling of Brackley Town, had to strive hard for supremacy but their 2nd and 3rd goals were scored at crucial times to set up the victory which hoisted them 2 places to 7th. The 2nd, from the penalty spot and a first goal for Devlan Moses, the Sheffield Wednesday loanee striker, gave Buxton the lead for the 2nd time a few minutes before the interval, while the 3rd on 78 minutes averted a nervous climax to a match between teams with genuine promotion aspirations once more....Full Report HERE
Next Saturday the Bucks start their Emirates FA Cup campaign with a visit of Ashton United. The match kicks off at The Tarmac Silverlands Stadium at 3-00 and tickets can be obtained HERE or cash and card on the gate.
It's striking that Chester had gone three wins and a draw across their previous four visits, so this result feels like a genuine shift rather than a routine home win. The timing of the second and third goals seems to have been the real difference, especially the penalty just before the interval and the third on 78 minutes. Do you think that late third goal mattered more for confidence than the scoreline itself?

Buxton’s win over Chester made for an interesting read because it was not just about the final score. The Bucks had to work for control of the match, and two well-timed goals helped turn a competitive game into a convincing result. Devlan Moses scored his first goal for the club from the penalty spot before half-time, and another goal in the 78th minute helped secure the victory, moving Buxton up two places to seventh.

Great win for the Bucks! Beating a strong Chester side that had such a good record at our place shows real progress. Devlan Moses getting his first goal from the spot at such a crucial moment was a big boost, and that third goal on 78 minutes killed off any nerves. Up to 7th now — brilliant stuff. Bring on Ashton United in the FA Cup next Saturday!
