It is with deep sadness that we must report the passing of one of our greatest ever players, Ken Shirley, at the age of 85.
Affectionately known as ‘Snowy’ due to his fair hair, local boy and wing-half Ken made 369 appearances and scored 43 goals for the Bucks during an eight year spell in the 1960s, becoming widely known as one of the best players of his generation in northern non-league football as a member of our outstanding 1962/63 squad which finished second in the prestigious Cheshire League.
Chairman David Hopkins, pictured by the Buxton Advertiser with Ken as the club marked his 80th birthday in 2019, said “There are several former players who are ingrained in the history of our football club, and Ken is absolutely part of that honoured list. It was our pleasure to welcome him as our Guest of Honour to celebrate his 80th birthday in recent years and, as a local man and familiar face to many at the Tarmac Silverlands, he will be sorely missed. The thoughts of all at the club are with Ken’s wife Rosemary and their family at this difficult time.”
Rest in peace, Ken.
I'm really pleased to share Space Waves with you. This game is a result of my passion for science fiction and a longtime goal to create something genuinely remarkable. I hope you love the voyage as much as I enjoyed bringing it to life.
