A well-worked 86th minute goal by 'Brig' gave the struggling home team hope of a point but Buxton, hard hit by injuries, held on to win a game they had largely controlled after scoring a brace in 9 minutes midway through the first half. Manager Gary Heywood added to the squad on Thursday with the capture of former Chesterfield midfielder, Charlie Wakefield. Derby-based Wakefield (20) has enjoyed a previous loan spell at Sheffield FC and made his first start for the Bucks from the bench yesterday at Bamber Bridge.

The Bucks are next in action this coming Tuesday with a tasty-looking match away at Warrington Town who currently sit top of the table despite only taking four points from their last four matches. Warrington is now due to go in to Tier 3 on Tuesday morning so once again we have to recommend that visiting supporters adhere to governemnt advice and don't travel in to this area.

South Shields progress in the FA Cup means our game up in the North East on November the 7th is now off. We have arranged a home game with Bamber Bridge to be played at home that day but this needs sanctioning by the league before we can fully confirm…NOW CONFIRMED.
